searching, searching, searching… ERROR. Refresh. Try again.
This has been much of my life. Searching for something. Happiness, belonging, companionship, value, identity, contentment, the perfect skincare, my style, or the highly sought after antique English staffordshire dogs (They’re so freakishly cute!). I’ve looked for these things in people, jobs, hobbies, and ebay. Sometimes it’s worked out. And sometimes it hasn’t.
Eventually, the searching becomes a burden. You look in every nook and cranny of the world and hope you find yourself there. But what I think you are looking for, cannot be found in the world. It can only be found in the one who made you, you. Jesus.
It took me a while to accept that my identity was truly in Jesus. I fought it for a while. It couldn’t be. Identity was in the things you did and I didn’t feel like I had reached my full potential.
It finally dawned on me that no matter what happens in life, my identity in Jesus will never change. Jobs come and go. People come and go. Things break. Products get discontinued. I changed my mind etc. It’s risky business putting your identity in those things. No matter what I do or where I go, Jesus tells me that I am loved. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I will always belong to His kingdom. He has chosen me. This is true for you too. If you don’t believe me, read this post.
Now I am on the lookout 👀 for becoming who God has made me to be. It’s not so much a search anymore but an intriguing adventure of discovery. Whether I’m in my garden, reading a good book, catching up with old friends, or digging through the thrift stores for my staffordshire doggies, I’m becoming more me.
I thought this blog was for you, but it’s turned out to be more for me. It’s my journey on becoming the bodacious lady God has created. I have had many people–old acquaintances, old people, lifelong friends, and children impart their wisdom on to me. I am truly grateful. I hope to share those shiny diamonds with you as well.
If you’re in the business of discovering your truest you, I’d love a friend to tag along. It’s always more fun with a bestie anyways. We can be ourselves, laugh our faces off all while uncovering God’s truth about who we are. And hopefully find some good treasure. I may or may not be talking about those English dogs. 😁
